Executive Bio & Expertise


April A. Sponsel is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Legion Lex Institute, bringing more than 22 years of criminal justice experience as a prosecutor, educator, and public safety instructor. During nearly two decades with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, she prosecuted violent crimes, gang-related offenses, firearms cases, aggravated assaults, homicide-related matters, and other serious felonies while serving as lead or co-counsel in more than 130 felony jury trials. Today, she develops practical training programs that help law enforcement officers, prosecutors, victim advocates, and criminal justice professionals improve courtroom performance, investigative decision-making, and case preparation.
